American Council on Exercise ® (ACE) Certified Personal Trainer615-804-9396 What’s in a name? These days it seems that most of us are so busy that we have little time to take care of ourselves. We have responsibilities for our families, work, and communities among other things. So many of us make time for everyone and everything else while often overlooking the fact that we must carry our bodies with us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in order to do all those things. But if our bodies are neglected we can easily start to become physically out of balance. This can lead to a host of physical issues which can have a real impact on not only our quality of life but the quality of everything we do as well. Giving yourself the time for the gift of fitness increases your physical vitality while lowering your stress levels. This means you end up having so much more to give to all the people and things that require your attention. It’s a win-win situation all around! When it comes to fitness, the number 4 also has a lot of significance: There are the 4 elements of: 1. Cardiovascular endurance 2. Muscular Strength and Endurance 3. Flexibility 4. Body Composition. The 4 ”FITT” principles of: 1. Frequency 2. Intensity 3. Time (duration) 4. Type (mode of exercise). And there are 4 primary steps in designing a comprehensive exercise program: 1. Medical/health screening 2. Physical Fitness testing (optional) 3. Selection of exercise mode. 4. Design of an exercise program for total fitness. Utilized properly and consistently these various elements can help anyone create a real transformation in their health, sense of well being and vitality along with their appearance. As an ACE certified personal trainer I will utilize all of these elements in an appropriate manner in order to help you optimize your training time. While all the above elements are included in each program, they can be manipulated to emphasize different aspects of fitness based on a clients wants, needs and goals. Some examples include: Fat burning for weight/fat loss, development of muscular strength/size, flexibility, core training, functional training, gentle stress relief or a program designed to enhance performance of a sports activity. This approach is the essence of personal training. Each clients program is designed specifically for your unique needs and interests on a session by session basis. We will start at a level appropriate to your current level of health and fitness and find the best way to help you move forward towards your fitness goals. I will come up with appropriate possibilities and discuss them with you. While I will use my knowledge and experience to guide you, you always play an active partnership role throughout the process. If you haven’t exercised in a while or even if you’ve hardly ever exercised before, I will gently guide you in order to help you ease into fitness in the most comfortable way possible. You don’t need to exhaust yourself with exercise to acquire real fitness benefits. I can bring all the equipment you’ll need to get the results you want to achieve in the privacy of your own home. Also exercises can be modified to fit your comfort zone. If you prefer a gym setting then I can train you there as well (as long as the gym policy allows outside trainers). It all comes down to what will personally give you the best environment so that you can be comfortable and focus on what you want to accomplish.
